In our society people sometimes experience a feeling of insecurity; people hear about and / or come into contact with (petty) crime, burglaries, violence and nuisance. The anonymity of many neighborhoods and districts can reinforce the feeling of insecurity. In quite a few places it can be seen that neighborhood prevention is an answer to this and is considered important.
For many local residents, neighborhood prevention is the same as quality of life: neighborhood prevention means that efforts are made to improve the quality of life in the neighborhood.
A liveable neighborhood means that people feel comfortable and safe in their own living environment. Residents get to know each other's names, the anonymous disappears. Networks of residents are created, so that people can fall back on each other if necessary.
